Adfero, a DC-based strategic communications firm with a strong digital footprint, today launched the “Adfero Eight.” It represents their unique take on predicting trends and serves as “a list of the things [they] believe will impact communications in the year to come.”
These lists have become de rigueur in the era of blogs, and they mostly serve as cheap link bait during the holiday period. Adfero clearly aims to stand out from the crowd, not just by releasing the list at a different time than most others, but also by elevating it to the level of an interactive microsite.
Of course, anyone can put a list on a microsite, but the team at Adfero provides a degree of engagement with the visitor by encouraging them to rank the eight trends and then find out what it says about them. When I did so, it pegged me as a realist, which seems accurate. As I randomly jumbled the rankings to see what other predictions it might make, I’m not sure I fully bought into the matches, but it’s an interesting exercise nonetheless.
