It seems that polls are the next big thing in social media. Or at least Facebook and Twitter hope so.
News arrived this week that Twitter will soon be making polling capabilities available to all users on their platform. They will be easy to create and remain available for 24 hours. Voting will be anonymous.
It goes without saying that these polls will be completely unscientific and the results wouldn’t pass muster as legitimate survey research. For public affairs and advocacy professionals, however, they could be another tool in the engagement arsenal. Time will tell.
